Abdominal Massage

Benefits and Frequently Asked Questions

Benefits:

Abdominal massage releases tension in the abdomen and allows for more efficient digestion and elimination. When proper digestion and detoxification happens, we are able to utilize the nutrients we are taking in from our food and flushing out the things that no longer nourish us. The result is a vibrant life and robust immune system.

Abdominal massage also helps ease menstrual discomfort and back pain from tight musculature or scars from surgeries.

Frequently Asked Questions:

“Do you just rub my belly for the entire 90 minutes?

Haha! No, you will receive a full body massage. The massage begins with a gentle “lets get to know each other” abdominal massage that is done over the sheets. This allows you to get used to my touch and settle into the moment. It also allows me to pick up on subtle areas of tightness before I begin the portion of massage that involves oil and skin-to-skin contact. After the abdominal portion of the massage, the rest of the massage is pretty traditional. Your legs will be massaged to encourage lymphatic flow and enhanced detoxification. Your neck and arms will be flushed as well, and the digestive reflexology points on your feet that correspond with your symptoms will also be worked. Any muscular tensions found in your back will also be addressed as needed.

“How do you massage my bare abdomen while keeping my breast tissue covered and modesty in mind?”

Awesome question! I place a thick pillow case over the massage sheets just under your chin. I ask you to hold the top edges of that pillow case to ensure it stays in place while I pull the sheets down and rest them just above your underwear line. Your breast tissue remains covered throughout the entire massage.

“Do I have to take off my underwear?”

Nope. I ask that all of my clients disrobe to the level they are comfortable with. Some get naked as jay birds, while others keep on their underwear. During the abdominal work, I will at times be working around the uterus and will therefore be working just above the pubic bone. That being said, please make sure that your undergarments will allow that access. I have had women wear compression underwear that came up to their navel and due to the restrictive nature of these garments, felt that the massage was not quite as effective as it could have been.

“What if I have to pass gas during the massage?”

It’s all good. As the nervous system begins to relax, the digestive system begins to work. Sometimes gas needs to be released. As Shrek says “Better out than in.” Let it go. The room has plenty of essential oils should we need to cover any odor ;)

“I suffer from IBS and sometimes have to run to the restroom. What happens if that urge hits during a massage?”

This is part of the reason that I have chosen to keep my business in my home. You simply let me know that you need to go to the restroom. I leave the room while you throw on a robe and go to the restroom that’s right down from the massage room. You have the privacy you need that a traditional massage office/spa would not have. After you are done, get back on the massage table and we pick right back up from where we left off. No big deal.

“What COVID-19 precautions do you take?”

I do wear a mask during your massage. However, if you are immune compromised, I do recommend that you hold off scheduling appointments. There is no way to “socially distance” during a massage. Since it is nearly impossible to relax with a mask on your face, you are not required to wear one during your massage. You are required to sign a waiver before your massage acknowledging the risk of such close contact and accept full responsibility for your health.

Since I only see two clients a day, three days a week, the room is thoroughly aired out between appointments and sanitized before you arrive.

My cancellation policy is lenient and my clients value my health as much as their own. I have never had an issue with a client cancelling last minute out of precaution. That being said, please familiarize yourself with the Cancellation Policy before booking an appointment.
